Privacy and your bookshelf

This information describes the testing version of the 25 Best Chefs bookshelf, provided by Peter Marshall trading as Chef Media. Contact peter@chefmedia.co.uk about your information or access.

Account and purchase access

The app receives your signed-in account identifier and email through its hosting provider. Email sign-in is provided by Supabase. A one-time code is sent through Resend from our verified sending domain. Signing in verifies your email and stores a secure session cookie on this device. Activating your bookshelf stores your verified account details. Verified book access records contain the customer email, book, website order or payment reference, verification details and access status. An order reference by itself never grants access.

App purchases use PayPal-hosted checkout in US dollars. The app stores the account, book, amount, currency, checkout attempt, provider order and payment references needed to verify purchases and provide access. Card details are entered with the payment provider and are not collected by this app. Website purchases remain separate.

Reading and notifications

Reading position and page-view preferences are saved in this browser. When your bookshelf account is activated, page position can also be saved to your account. Book content is not saved for offline reading by this app.

Notifications are optional. If enabled, we store a device subscription and the topics you choose. Delivery uses your browser’s notification service, such as Apple, Google or Mozilla. Turn notifications off in Updates → Notification choices.

Storage and service providers

The current app uses OpenAI Sites hosting and Cloudflare storage services, Supabase for email authentication, Resend for login-email delivery and PayPal for app payments. Account-restricted book files are delivered after a server-side access check and are not exposed as general download links. Service providers may process operational connection data needed to run their services.

Requests and retention

Account, reading and notification data are kept while providing the service. You can request deletion from My Books or by email. A request from the app immediately disables its server-side notifications; Chef Media then handles the remaining deletion request. Order and payment records may need to be retained for business and legal obligations. Deleting app data does not delete your website order or ChatGPT account.
